View All Vacancies Overview of the Role 75% FTE from March 2024 to June 2026 (Fixed-term) This role will be based on the university campus, with scope for it to be undertaken in a hybrid manner. We are also open to discussing flexible working arrangements.

Research Fellow Leeds Institute of Health Sciences: URBANE project

Are you an ambitious researcher looking for your next challenge? Do you have a background addressing global challenges around One Health, food security and climate resilience? Do you want to further your career in one of the UK’s leading research-intensive Universities?

You will provide support to an exciting research project, which is being implemented across six West-African Countries. This European Commission- funded project focuses on developing One Health approaches to support agroecological transformations of peri-urban farming practices. It engages a 28-member consortium of partners across West Africa and Europe and brings together disciplinary perspectives from medicine, agriculture, social sciences, economics, and environmental sciences.

You will be one of several PDRAs, working as a key member of a broader team of researchers to consolidate evidence around the One Health implications of peri-urban and agroecological farming practices in Africa. A major component of this work will be to interpret microbiological analysis results in terms of One Health and Zoonotic disease risk. There will also be the potential to analyse quantitative climatic data and intersections between these datasets and farmer behaviour.

Please note: There’s flexibility (within the budget) of increasing the RF’s FTE from 75% to 100% FTE depending on need/dynamics of project activities. Contact information.
