Job description
What you will do in your working day
As an MEH Alliance apprentice you will:
- Work within site-based teams under the guidance of Senior Surveyors
- Carrying out tasks such as levelling, setting out, survey control network installation, data processing and reporting
- Have a strong support network giving you the chance to achieve your potential
- Work across HPC to build a clear understanding of the Nuclear New Build sector
You will learn to:
- Work collaboratively with different functions to build a clear understanding of their HPC scope
- Work closely with other Surveyors and Engineers in the MEH Alliance
- How to use surveying instruments which include digital levels, GPS and Total Stations
- Undertake equipment checks and adjustments
- Apply geometric principles for good systems of work
- How to process survey data and production of as-built drawings in line with client requirements
- Complete topographic Surveys
To apply, you need:
- 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) grade C/4 or above in English and Maths and 3 other subjects
- Competency in using Microsoft packages such as Teams, Outlook, Excel and Word with an aptitude to work with other software
You will attend college to complete Level 3 Geospatial Survey Technician apprenticeship and you will regularly attend in house training and development as part of the programme.
The training you will be getting
- A Level 3 qualification in Geospatial Survey Technician
- End Point Assessment (EPA)
- A mixture of off the job knowledge training, complemented by working alongside experienced Surveyors at HPC
Blended learning to complete Level 3 Geospatial Survey Technician apprenticeship with the requirement to attend block release training at Dudley College, Black Country & Marches Institute of Technology Campus, Dudley, West Midlands, DY1 4AL, and you will regularly attend in house training and development as part of the programme.
What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship
The apprenticeship will provide the necessary knowledge, skills and behaviours to apply to become an Associate member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors or an Associate Member of the Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors.
