The role of Senior Interior Designer will involve conceptual and detail design development, working cohesively as a member of our multi-disciplinary project teams. There will also be a requirement to address package procurement in accordance with design deliverables, respond to Client and Contractor queries, review sub-contractor information and support site-based teams.
Sound technical knowledge of building legislation is an essential requirement of the role. Previous involvement across both private and public sector projects would be beneficial, along with experience in the following areas - Education, Defence, Residential – and particularly - in Workplace Design.
Capable of providing senior interior design support to project teams and able to deliver successful projects in accordance with client requirements.
Undertake the role of discipline lead, working flexibly and independently (where required) or in support of the overall project lead. Be efficient in managing one’s own time but also capable of directing a small team of others.
Ability to organise and co-ordinate the interior design element of a wider architectural project from concept to detail design delivery. Capable of managing and supervising the delivery of package/ project information, together with Client and Contractor liaison.
The ability to identify design change (which could impact the fee, scope of service or programme) and advise the need to instigate change control processes to the Project Director/ Lead.
An understanding of working with BMS/QMS systems.
Extensive knowledge of current building legislation and product development to undertake the production and coordination of design and construction information.
Understanding of duties and responsibilities under CDM Regulations.
An understanding of forms of procurement and contract conditions.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Strong people skills, used in managing and developing positive Client relationships, and forging inter-company relationships with other disciplines.
Varied communication skills to enable engagement with a range of stakeholders, e.g. ages, backgrounds, design understanding. Experience in organising and leading stakeholder engagement sessions would be of benefit.
Problem solving/ analysis – using initiative and experience in managing challenging situations.
Ability to mentor and engage with junior members of the team. Able to provide skilled professional/ technical advice and support.
Advanced CAD drafting and presentation skills, preferably in Revit – to BIM Level 2 standard (or recognised equivalent e.g. AutoCAD as minimum).
Specification writing capability with relevant NBS software.
