Job description

We are a leading biotechnology company specializing in the development and manufacturing of innovative biological products. Seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Laboratory Analyst to join our dynamic team in Newbury. You will be working in a quality lead environment to provide full laboratory diagnostics and conduct a variety of QC tests to ensure that all laboratory products are up to standard and meet company schedule deadlines.

Working Hours: Monday – Friday 9 am to 5 pm (Flexible Hours Available) + Occasional Weekend Day (Rota).

The Role

Delivering work in line with the laboratory work schedule and within allotted deadlines whilst following

and adhering to procedures by;

○ Receiving, isolating, identifying and storing bacterial pathogens

○ Performing laboratory diagnostic testing, QC testing on the antigen and final product

manufactured.

○ Performing molecular and serological analysis of isolates

○ Initiating production of antigen.

○ Flagging issues affecting schedule delivery.

○ Liaison / Communication with other members of staff / departments.

○ Reporting any potential or identified issues to your Supervisor / Manager

Maintaining Quality, Health and Safety and required company standards through;

○ Following and adhering to all procedures

○ Accurately recording all performed tasks and results.

○ Assist in any Quality Control investigations and laboratory development projects as they arise.

○ Compliance to Quality standards and Health & Safety Regulations

○ Maintaining training records.

Contribute to the development of the Company’s operational process by;

○ Maintaining effective working relationships to make sure that the laboratory is running smoothly.

○ Maintaining / Cleaning and use of laboratory equipment.

○ Removal of bio-hazard waste and cleaning of laboratory as required.

○ Highlighting and maintaining stock levels of consumables, sterile equipment, test reagents and

raw materials.

Experience Required

● Good practical skills and the knowledge of microbiology/ laboratory techniques and processes;

● The ability to meet targets and deadlines;

● Good interpersonal and communication skills;

● Good accuracy and attention to detail;

● Good time management, planning, organising and recording skills;

● Experience of working in a busy environment, as part of a team with the ability to switch between and complete multiple tasks within allotted timelines.

● A clear understanding and experience of Quality/ Health and Safety requirements in a laboratory/

production environment.

● Good analysing and decision making skills;
