Back Office are responsible the trade lifecycle management of all deals concluded by our Front Office. This includes sending out deal confirmations, managing margin and collateral payments, controlling balancing group accounts, sending out invoices and settling deals. While performing these tasks, we are responsible for providing a comprehensive and quality checked control within the trade lifecycle process across Front Office, Back Office, Risk, Finance, Accounting and Legal.

We have a diverse commodity portfolio including power, gas emission certificates, renewables – wind, hydro and batteries, LNG, freight, weather and biomass. Solar is due in summer 2024. The Company is also responsible for the commercial optimisation of RWE’s entire asset business and offers large industrial companies and trading partners trading-based portfolio management, long-term supply contracts and risk management solutions.

We have a position available for an Analyst to join our Bespoke Grid & Balancing Operations Team based in Swindon. This team is responsible for playing an integral part in securing income for the wide range of assets held within our renewable portfolio, aswell as conventional fleet. This is managed through day to day operation of contracts, metered data, managing relationships with Counterparties & Market Operators whilst being closely interlinked with our Commercial Asset Optimisation team

Your Future plans;

• The primary focus of the role is to perform operational activities independently and apply knowledge and skills in a wide variety of contexts.
• Daily operational activities include:
• Validating data and resolving queries from Meter Data Collection Services, and windfarms/sites to ensure metered output correlates to benefits received i.e. Renewable Obligation Certificates etc
• Bespoke enquiries from Joint Ventures / Stakeholders and effective relationship management
• Meter Volume Re-allocation notifications / Registrations and Substitution of metered data relating to the UK Balancing and Settlement Code regime
• Green Certificates handling of Claims and Position Management
• Regulatory reporting, including OFGEM and the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero
• Data validation for Land Rent of Onshore and Offshore wind sites
• Complex contract gas calculations in preparation for settlements in the Contracts team
• Maintaining gas field operator gas allocations for the Claims Validation Agency and carrying out final checks
• Ability to challenge up stream as and when required, and escalating appropriately
• Able to train less experienced colleagues
• Representing the team in projectsand handling non-operational tasks, including key contract information sharing and stakeholder management
• Can deal with new unique/complex issues or challenges and can structure and document these so that other team members can take over
• Pro-actively identifying process improvements and driving these forward within the team, closely liaising with stakeholders and developers
• Working closely with the Contract Settlement team to ensure a smooth process flow
• Track record for driving and implementing process improvements
• Excellent communication skills and confident to share knowledge
• Experience in the Power Industry and Renewables Certificates
• Understanding of transmission, balancing and market systems and services
• Must be driven, be a catalyst for change
• Degree educated or equivalent
• Advanced Excel skills
• Development of new products in collaboration with other parts of the business
• Excellent problem solving skills. Have agile approach to challenges
