Job description

Axcis are working with a mainstream school local to the Rugeley area who are looking to recruit a TA to work 1-1 with a pupil with ASD in Year 5. This is a long-term role, working Monday-Friday. You will need to be able to quickly establish trust and rapport with the child as you will be working 1-1 with them all day. You will need to be empathetic, compassionate, calm and kind. The child exhibits challenging behaviour and needs a lot of reassurance and a positive role model.

The school are looking for the right candidate to start as soon as possible.

You will be supporting pupils covering all subjects and you will need to work closely with the class teacher.

What you need to apply:
• Valid enhanced DBS – or be willing to obtain one
• Minimum of 2 references from last 12 months
• Experiences dealing with special educational needs
• Relevant qualifications or training in autism support or special educational needs (SEN) would be advantageous.

Job Description:
• Be able to work alongside the main teacher following lesson plans
• Leading 1-1 activities for pupils using multiple resources to engage the pupil
• Build positive relationships with the student, promoting a supportive and encouraging atmosphere
• Good de-escalation skills
• Patience, empathy, and the ability to build positive relationships with students
• Resilience and adaptability in providing consistent support, even in challenging situations

Pay:
• From £87.04 to £97.04 per day – can vary depending on experience

Hours:
• Monday to Friday 8.30am – 3.30pm

This position is initially temporary however there is a chance for it to be extended depending on performance.
