We have ambitious growth plan over the next 5 years, driven by an increased need for businesses to deliver on their NetZero goals and backed by leading investment houses.
To help maintain, improve and grow the delivery across our business, driven by developing robust repeatable processes, we’re seeking an experienced head of operations to oversee daily activities. For a candidate that can demonstrate their effectiveness in this role, it will progress within circa 12 months to become our Operations Director, due to retirement. Our existing Operations Director will mentor and guide the new candidate prior to retirement.
The ideal candidate will have a sharp commercial mind, will be process and quality driven. Will need to have a demonstrable and successful project management background, as leading and shaping the existing project management team and delivery of an ever-increasing number of projects so will be proven in success in managing multiple teams and projects for maximum productivity. This person will be highly skilled in human resources / personable, allowing them to build strong relationships, to manage internal teams, client relationships, and our network of approved installers. Be finance literate to allow them to track multiple project status, costs, revenues, margins reporting to our senior leadership and ultimately the board. Highly organised and process lead you will be calm under pressure, be able to multitask, be solution lead to issues, and as a result understand the importance of process development, implementation and related quality standards.
Objectives of this role
- Maintain constant communication with managers, staff, and vendors to ensure proper operations of the company.
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance protocols.
- Increase the efficiency of existing processes and procedures to enhance the company’s internal capacity.
- Ensure that operational activities remain on time and within budget.
- Track staffing requirements, hiring new employees as needed.
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable departments.
Responsibilities
- Lead, shape, motivate, and support a small internal team across our project and e-commerce business functions, within a time-sensitive and demanding environment, including team & process development plans for direct reports, other internal teams, our approved installer network & clients.
- Manage data collection for the updating of metrics to achieve productivity targets, reduce costs, eliminate errors, and deliver excellent customer service. Must have knowledge of SLA, OLA and OKR
- Partner with cross-functional teams to improve proprietary tools and systems.
- Oversee Procurement of materials and inventory.
- Conduct budget reviews and report cost plans to upper management.
- Accountable for financial sign off for projects expenditure up to £250k
- Must have people management experience, incl team meetings, 121’s, PDP and annual reviews.
- A good understanding of Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery.
Required skills and qualifications.
- Likely to be an Operations Manager / Project Manager, progressing their career with 3-5 years of proven success.
- Strong skills in budget development and oversight
- Excellent ability to delegate responsibilities while maintaining organizational control of branch operations and customer service.
- Proficiency in conflict management and business negotiation processes
- Knowledge of business productivity software, including CRM, ERP. Knowledge of APM and an aptitude for learning new applications.
- Health and Safety qualifications, plus experience in developing and maintaining ISO quality standards 90001, 14001 and 45001
Preferred skills and qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in operations management, business administration, or related field activity.
- Strong IT skills, including professional level Excel experience, Sage200 and Hubspot.
- Familiar with Six Sigma DMAIC , ITIL, Prince / Scrum or similar productivity / Project methodologies / techniques.
- Ability to travel across the UK to support short term projects.
