Job description
About the Pub
The Midland Hotel is a standalone building located on the main road of the picturesque tourist town of Ilkley. It enjoys a prime location, right across from the train station, and has a spacious car park at the back. Currently, the hotel mainly serves locals and weekend visitors. The pub can tap into the vast tourist market that frequents Ilkley throughout the year. There are two rooms, a main bar area and a lounge. The horseshoe-shaped bar has a good layout and plenty of space, and it services both rooms. The main bar area, with 20 covers, is predominantly used for games events such as the pool and benefits from being the only one in the area, whilst the lounge offers a quiet space to pass the day or watch sporting events, accommodating a further 30 covers. Entertainment is key and on offer at weekends and attracts a strong following. The cellar is well equipped, with ample room to accommodate the large volume of cask ales. To the rear of the pub are two patio areas providing seating, which prove popular in the warmer months. An elevated car park, located directly to the rear of the premises, provides space for 15 vehicles. Regional Manager's Thoughts The Publican is required to develop strong links with the surrounding community. The pub currently caters for local and weekend trade. Still, with some tender loving care and an excellent Publican, the business could be developed to attract the wealth of tourist trade that frequents Ilkley throughout the year. There is also a huge opportunity to increase daytime footfall considering the frequent visitors arriving in the area by train - cakes, and coffee is a must! Surrounding Area Ilkley's Spa Town heritage and surrounding countryside makes tourism an important local industry. The town centre is characterised by grand Victorian architecture, wide streets and floral displays. Ilkley Moor, to the south of the town, is the subject of a folk song, often described as the unofficial anthem of Yorkshire, "On Ilkla Moor Baht 'at" - translated as "On Ilkley Moor without a hat".Job tags
