As a Senior Director of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the Securities Services Technology & Corporate Investment Bank (CIB) Technology Controls organisation, you lead a technical area and drive impact within teams, technologies, and projects across departments. Utilize your in-depth knowledge of software, applications, technical processes, and product management to drive multiple complex projects and initiatives, while serving as a primary decision maker for your teams and be a driver of innovation and solution delivery.
You will lead the development and promotion of technology solutions for support, testing and SRE staff in the Production Engineering and Support team. Balancing the provision of off-the-shelf (JPMorgan internal and external) tooling with custom stakeholder requirements you will be responsible for creating and maintaining a suite of tools that deliver toil reducing, standardisation and collaboration opportunities to stakeholders.
Job responsibilities
- Engage with stakeholders throughout the Software Development Lifecycle, you will own the development of self-service tooling, a tooling access portal and business process monitoring for test and production environment, whilst also delivering new products from minimum viable product to broad adoption.
- Work as a hands-on developer, with extensive development experience, you will be responsible for agile delivery through local, remote and vendor staff.
- Leads technology and process implementations to achieve functional, firmwide technology objectives across departments
- Oversees decisions that influence teams’ resources, budget, tactical operations, and the execution and implementation of processes and procedures
- Carries governance accountability for coding decisions, control obligations, and measures of success such as cost of ownership, maintainability, and portfolio operations
- Manages multiple stakeholders, complex projects, and large cross-product collaborations
- Influences peer leaders and senior stakeholders across the business, product, and technology teams
- Develops secure and high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
- Champions the firm’s culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and expert applied experience. In addition, advanced experience leading technologists to manage, anticipate and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise
- Experience developing or leading cross-functional teams of technologists and with hiring, developing, and recognizing talent
- Advanced in one or more programming language(s) including Java/Microservices
- Extensive modern technology stack experience including cloud, containers, Java, large-scale storage systems, Data, Rest APIs, and API Modernization topics
- Expert in Agility practices, SDLC processes, CI/CD, application resiliency and security
- Prior Experience with IT Strategy & Execution
- Experience leading complex projects supporting system design, testing, and operational stability
- Extensive experience driving developer efficiency, agility and developer experiences
- Demonstrated proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with prior experience influencing across highly matrixed, complex organizations and delivering value at scale
- In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Cloud Certifications - e.g., AWS Developer Associate, AWS Solutions Architect, Microsoft Azure
- Prior experience managing large digital transformational programs
- Strong hands on experience in Microservices, RESTful webservices development in Java (Spring Boot or equivalent framework)
