We are seeking a skilled and experienced analyst who will be a key member of Hilton’s EMEA Energy & Environment team and will be instrumental in securing affordable energy supply for hotels that supports carbon intensity reduction targets and ensures value for owners.
The Senior Energy Analyst will be responsible for supporting the EMEA energy management strategy by providing advanced data analytics, reporting and benchmarks for the existing and onboarding portfolio. This will include supporting the procurement and contracting of all centrally managed utility contracts, reviewing energy market intelligence, and providing input to energy trading decisions and actions in line with Hilton policy.
The role will involve producing utility consumption and cost forecasts for hotels, reviewing utility performance across the EMEA region and making recommendations to reduce costs and ensure energy efficiency.
This role will be highly proficient in data analytics used in a business setting to drive financial performance and results.
What will I be doing?
General responsibilities cover (but are not limited to):
• Collate data, analyse performance and produce reports to support all energy procurement activities.
• Use and develop advanced data analytics for utility benchmarking, forecasting and financial reporting for the existing and onboarding portfolio.
• Support with the procurement and contracting of all centrally managed utility contracts: gas, electricity, water, CHP, etc. and expansion of the service to newly deregulated markets.
• Review energy market intelligence, undertake cost scenario analysis, provide input to energy procurement decisions, and contribute to the implementation of innovative approaches to energy contracting.
• Support with utility invoicing processes, including auditing, query resolution and reconciliations; ensuring relationship with relevant Hilton functions (Finance) and external suppliers.
• Produce and develop regular business reports, statistics and analysis as required by area management and stakeholders.
• Support the Regional Engineering Specialists (RES) and hotels with utility cost control, analysis of relevant energy/water initiatives and compliance.
This position will on occasions require travel throughout EMEA, and will results in periods away from home.
Planning Activities 10%
• Establish support frameworks to deliver utilities procurement activities including contracting and renewal schedules, risk management strategies and policy reviews.
• Assists in the creation of annual energy budgets.
• Creates monthly position and forecasting reports on utilities to support finance.
• Owns the development of new reports to support with business requirements.
• Continously reviews energy market conditions and monitors legislation requirements, analysing impact to the business.
Organising Activities 10%
• Supports the strategic energy and environmental direction of EMEA.
• Assist in the development of energy-focused action plans.
• Organize activities to support the implementation of the area and departmental objectives, and Travel with Purpose strategy at a corporate level.
• Supports and contributes to the management of positive working relationships with all utility stakeholders (suppliers and consultants), taking ownership of agreed developments and actions as required.
Analysing Activities 40%
• Analyses energy and environmental performance against KPI’s.
• Reviews and analyses invoices for accuracy and identifies trends in cost and consumption compared to other data sources through internal reporting tools.
• Manages the development of monthly energy forecasts, and supports the development of annual energy budgets for the area.
• Continually monitors accuracy of reports and implements forecasting improvements for existing and onboarding portfolio.
• Prepares reports on energy market movements and recommendations on procurement decisions.
• Analyses energy market trends, undertakes cost scenario analysis and provides regular performance statistics.
• Provides cost control support and produces regular reports and statistics as required by stakeholders.
• Collaborates with other functions to ensure alignment of activities and processes to bring maximum benefit to the area and company.
• Develops performance benchmarks for the portfolio and makes recommendations for regional and hotel level focus areas.
• Prepares supporting analysis for energy and environmental efficiency ROI projects.
Communication Activities 10%
• Analyses market trends, provides recommendations and advises of risks/opportunities accordingly.
• Ensures timely and detailed communication with key stakeholders for utility procurement, contracting and invoicing processes.
• Supports sharing of best practices and ideas across key business functions.
• Monitors energy related legislation for the area and communicates accordingly.
• Provides regular updates, and delivers monthly position summaries of energy performance and procurement activities to regional and area management.
Controlling Activities 20%
• Ensures resolution of utility consumption and cost inconsistencies with hotels, corporate functions and relevant suppliers.
• Evaluates utility data, including LightStay, and verifies the ongoing accuracy of consumption and cost data from different sources and recommends corrective actions.
• Analyses performance to determine whether the individual hotels and area are on track to meet targets, forecasts and budgets.
• Reviews and tracks energy markets and contracts to ensure benefit is secured for the business owners, and supports reporting and compliance.
• Monitors current and upcoming energy legislation requirements, identifies impact and helps to establish mitigation and compliance plans.
• Helps develop, establish and enforce policies and procedures relevant to energy procurement and contracting activities that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the company.
• Manages the documentation relevant to central energy contracts, procedures and policy.
Support Activities 10%
• Support with utility invoicing processes, including auditing, query resolution and reconciliations; ensuring relationship with relevant Hilton functions (Finance) and external suppliers.
• Support other business functions with provision of utility data, reports and expertise.
• Support the Regional Engineering Specialists (RES) and hotels with utility cost control and indication on relevant energy/water initiatives and compliance.
SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS
In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the company.
• Provide cover and support for the Director of Energy & Compliance, Energy Manager and wider Energy and Environment team as required
• Collaborate with Regional Engineering Specialists
• Provide required regular and ad hoc reports as required
• Any and all other job duties as assigned
What are we looking for?
To fulfill this role successfully, you must possess the following minimum qualifications and experience:
• Qualified in an energy, environmental, economics or finance related discipline.
• Advanced data analytics skills with Advanced Excel as a minimum.
• Previous energy data analytics experience in business or significant evidenced corporate or financial data analytics experience.
• The individual must be able to converse at a good level, with excellent communication skills: presentation, written and public speaking.
• Ability to provide a simple explanation of energy data and matters to non-technical colleagues whilst being able to discuss and direct complex issues with industry experts.
• Ability to analyse and present complex data sets, providing high level of attention to detail.
• Ability to collaborate among cross-functional teams including external resources.
• Demonstrates the highest standards of ethical behavior and absolute discretion with sensitive information.
• Strong problem solving skills, ability to analyse departmental data, take initiative, identify priorities and make recommendations.
• Pro-active, self motivated individual, with ability to work independently and on own initiative.

It would be advantageous in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:
• Demonstrable experience in energy or environmental position. • Qualified in an energy, environmental, economics or finance related discipline. • Previous energy data analytics experience in business or significant evidenced corporate or financial data analytics experience. • Understanding of flexible energy procurement, risk management and trading.
• Experience with Power Query and Power BI software.
