St Thomas a Becket Catholic Secondary School
Location
Wakefield, West Yorkshire | United Kingdom
Job description
At St. Thomas a Becket we are proud to be a Catholic school for our whole community and want to offer each young person, whatever their background and starting point, the chance to grow and flourish spiritually, academically, physically and emotionally.
In our most recent OFSTED report (2023) where the school was rated ‘Good’ in all areas, a student is quoted as saying ‘at this school all students are loved’, which succinctly sums up the spirit, ethos and culture of St. Thomas a Beckets. As those who are truly loved and appreciated as individuals will always thrive to explore their unlimited potential, pupils and staff alike.
The school proud to provide excellent educational experience that saw us achieve some of the best outcomes in Wakefield in 2023. The P8 score achieved by St Thomas a Becket for the 2022-2023 was the highest ever recorded score for the school, and higher than the local authority average and the national average.
We are more than a school striving for academic excellence, we are a school that is creating young people who are spiritually, socially and academically ready for life beyond school in the spirit of kindness, tolerance and respect for all members of our school community.
An appointment as an RE Teacher at St Thomas a Becket is an opportunity to join a highly successful team of talented, committed staff, enthusiastic, friendly pupils and a community of supportive families and a highly dedicated Trust.
We are looking for an RE teacher who can captivate, inspire and stimulate children in their RE lessons from Year 7 to Year 11. The Religious Education curriculum is the “core of the core” in a Catholic school. We want someone who is passionate about RE and engaged to develop and enhance the already thriving Catholic ethos that the school has positively cultivated through Faith and embodying the Catholic Virtues. In our last S48 inspection we received a Good judgement from the Catholic schools inspectorate and we are looking for someone who can support our journey to Outstanding.
We believe that our success derives from our inclusive, pupil-centred focus; our commitment to the continuous review of curriculum and pedagogy; our focus on CPD; and a strong belief in the need to work within a set of Catholic values which underpins all that we do.
