SaleCycle powers campaigns for some of the worlds most recognisable brands. We help 500 enterpriselevel clients worldwide to optimise their online conversions through traffic retention and abandoned sales recovery.
Youll find our HQ in the North East of England which was founded in 2010 but since then weve been on a very exciting growth journey and we also have employees in France and Asia.
We use the latest tech and innovation to shape our products and deliver results. All of which wouldnt be possible without our people thats why theyre at the heart of everything we do.
Most of the Sales Team are based in the trs chic Le Marais (3e) in Paris where new joiners will find a pretty cool team coming from all over the world and sharing the same values and objectives.

Location
At this time we are accepting applicants who are based in the United Kingdom. Although this position is open to applicants who primarily wish to work remotely there may be a requirement on occasion for the candidate to come into our Newcastle office.
Our Team at SaleCycle
Youll be a member of the Infrastructure Team looking after environments that deliver a real time data solution to our customers 24/7 365 days a year. The workload is varied ranging from close collaboration within agile delivery teams to the day to day tasks that ensure the security availability and performance of our production infrastructure. The team is charged with continuously improving our environment and delivery pipelines through collaboration automation and adoption of new technologies.
The team is working towards implementing a DevOps culture and this is a transformational role at the heart of a technology change which will underpin and assure the companys success in the future. We are looking for a talented Operations Engineer who believes in improving all areas that make up a service putting forward new ideas and designing for the future.
Whats Required
AWS Knowledge: We dont run a multicloud environment and therefore everything we do has AWS technology at its heart so in this particular role we need a level of knowledge which goes beyond spinning up EC2 instances or creating S3 buckets.
Experience: The SaleCycle product is hugely important to our customers and keeping it running requires a certain level of expertise so were looking for candidates who have been working with AWS production environments for a minimum of 3 years.
CI/CD: Primarily we use CircleCI for our deployment pipelines but we also utilise Octopus Deploy and AWS CodeDeploy at various points in our infrastructure. Any knowledge of these tools will be a huge benefit but equally if youve only ever used Jenkins it wont be too hard of a transition.
Infrastructure as Code: The majority of our infrastructure is defined using CloudFormation so you have to be comfortable with writing YAML and JSON and creating efficient and reusable templates. We also utilise Ansible at various points in our environment so if youve used something else in the past thats valuable experience as long as you are willing to transfer those skills to the tools we use.
Operating Systems: Our estate predominantly runs on Linux however there are a few Windows instances that make up the platform. A willingness to support both is essential and experience of both is desirable.
Scripting: We script using Bash Powershell and Python all of the time so having a good understanding of any of these languages is essential.
Containerisation and Orchestration: Were looking for a working knowledge of Docker and production experience of a Container Orchestration platform. We use ECS throughout but if youve used Kubernetes (especially in its EKS form) you shouldnt have any issue with translating your skills.
Version Control: You should have a working knowledge of Git and GitHub and should also be comfortable having your work peerreviewed whilst also peerreviewing others work.
Communication: Fitting into the team is just as important as your technical skills so we expect you to be a good communicator know when to be more/less technical in team discussions and possess an ability to communicate technical concepts well at a high level. We also believe in working in a Meritocracy where everyones ideas are considered.
Problem Solving and Troubleshooting: We expect you to have a good level of problem solving skills value concepts over specifics possess critical thinking and be good at investigating the root cause of problems.
Oncall: We operate an oncall rota to support our services and this role would be part of that rota. We understand that being oncall isnt anyones favourite part of work so we remunerate for time spent on the rota and we strive to improve the service to reduce callouts. Its a huge benefit if youve performed this type of work in the past.
Whats desired
Knowledge of AWS services beyond the basics that will include; ECS Kinesis Streams and Firehose Lambda API Gateway DynamoDB SQS Amazon MQ Cognito and Advanced VPC concepts.
Knowledge of working with Open Source applications in a production environment such as Apache Zookeeper Apache Flink and Redis.
Familiar with Operating in an ISO27001 certified environment.
Experience of working with Microsoft SQL Server would be an advantage.
Experience working in a real time or event driven infrastructure.
Knowledge of Networking concepts beyond the basics.
Coding experience using Go Java TypeScript.
Building AMIs using HashiCorp Packer and Ansible.
