Job description

Fortismere is a high-attaining, mixed foundation secondary school in the heart of Muswell Hill, North London with a strong tradition of excellence. The Co-Headteachers are seeking an experienced senior leader, preferably a current deputy headteacher who is on their way to Headship. The successful candidate will have a proven record within Education and be an educational innovator to lead on the development of Curriculum, Teaching and Learning at our school.

The successful candidate will be joining an established leadership team who has led the school to outstanding academic results. You will be responsible for Teaching, Learning and the Curriculum and will bring the skills necessary to meet the needs of our students and further develop the quality of our provision. We are looking for an individual who is intellectually curious, engages extensively with evolving pedagogical discourse and has the capacity to lead, challenge and develop our teaching staff.

The appointed candidate will be strategic, flexible and inspirational in their thinking and able to work both as a team and individually to take Fortismere on its next phase, consolidating its many successes.

We are looking for an individual who can demonstrate drive, focus and ambition and has the capacity to work hard for the school and the resilience to meet any challenges head on. In return you will receive development opportunities and training to support you to realise your own ambitions.

Fortismere continues to be a school with strong outcomes but with the potential to do even better. Ambitious and inclusive; caring while demanding; collaborative, visionary and inspirational are all words that would describe our school, and should describe any aspiring candidates for this role. We have all the right ingredients to make an even greater success of this fantastic school, which is recognised for providing an outstanding education whilst valuing the whole person. We have the highest expectations of every student, who in turn receive an excellent education that transforms their life chances.

If you are interested in the post and if like us you are committed to comprehensive state education and have an exceptional track record in senior leadership of a large secondary school then we would like to hear from you. We will be conducting a tour on the 12th March from 10am-12pm where you will have the opportunity to meet the Chair of Governors and Co-Headteachers.

Interviews will be conducted over a two day process. If you would like any further information please do not hesitate to contact Ms Haines PA to the Co-Heads on 02083654404 or [email protected].

Closing Date: 18th March 2024 (12pm)

Interviews 26th March 2024

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of young people and expect all staff to share this commitment. All successful applicants will be required to undertake a criminal record check via the DBS prior to appointment.
