Job Description
Overall Purpose
- Develop the Clay Cross Manufacturing facilities, considering international standards, productivity requirements and employee skill levels.
- Develop and optimise the manufacturing processes of the Clay Cross plant utilising a Continuous Improvement strategy through BPS (Bosch Production Systems).
- Continually drive and support a Quality culture throughout the manufacturing environment and ensuring that all new products and processes are introduced, on time and in an efficient and effective manner.
- Support Lean management routines and interdepartmental activities
- Element owner for Weld & White Paint Plant.
- Local Process owner for Weld, White Paint Plant & Automation.
Additional Tasks / Responsibilities
- Ensure on time delivery of new products within the Manufacturing environment together by collaborating with Design & Development to establish robust, efficient and sustainable processes.
- Setting up new and maintaining existing processes for a reliable, capable production.
- Plan and implement industrialisation of new products and processes.
- Define process steps,
- Responsible for ensuring safe working methods and environment.
- Project planning,
- Create equipment and tooling specifications and standardize them.
- Lead cross functional team in the justification and purchasing of capital equipment, tooling and new processes using structured methodology.
- Manage design and manufacture of tooling.
- Manage commissioning and acceptance of new equipment and tooling to hand over to Production.
- Setup and maintain process documentation.
- Perform capability study for both machine/tool and processes
- Proactively support design of new parts by supplying technical expertise of tooling and machine / process capabilities.
- Conduct capability analysis for processes and maintain them such that all existing processes are capable according to Bosch standards.
- Optimise layout with reference to future state of Value Stream Design by leading cross functional workshop teams
- Lead Continuous Improvement Process via periodical shop-floor based workshops with good associate empowerment (Point CIP) for quality, cost and delivery performances:
- Reduction of internal and external failure costs by systematic use of Zero defect techniques (Jidoka, Poke Yoke, FMEA)
- Cost reduction due to process and product improvements
- Reduction in manufacturing lead time, inventory whilst increasing flexibility
- Support implementation of Continuous Improvement principles on shop floor.
- Contact person for Quality Process audits.
- TPM representative
- Support & develop Industry 4.0 growth throughout the plant
- Other duties as they arise in the efficient maintenance of the systems within the Manufacturing Engineering Department.
- Act responsibly and pro-actively to ensure Safe and Environmentally friendly processes and workspaces according to Health and Safety regulations and internal Environmental Protection policies.
- Local coordination of digital shopfloor management within an international production network.
- Local coordination of lean line design within an international production network
Qualifications
- Qualified engineer (HND or above)
- Experienced in problem solving methodology e.g. 8D, Ishikawa, 5Whys.
- Experienced in utilizing quality tools e.g. FMEA, SPC, Capability studies
- Understanding of engineering change process
- Experienced in the application of Lean manufacturing techniques e.g. Pull system, Just-in-time, waste elimination
- Engineering knowledge on manufacturing/ assembly processes such as joining techniques, stamping process, copper pipe production, machining etc.
- Project management skills – Microsoft Project knowledge is preferred.
- TTM (Time to Market/ New Product Introductions) Knowledge
- Investment/ budget planning

- Driven and works autonomously.
- Team working attitude.
- Excellent communication, influencing and coaching (mentoring) skills.
Flexibility in the sense of travelling to other Bosch sites or suppliers, as well as working hours outside of normal office hours to meet the business needs.
