Job description
Thames Valley Police is the largest non-metropolitan force in England and Wales and has a substantial portfolio spread across the three counties of Buckinghamshire, Berkshire and Oxfordshire. The Force polices a wide variety of locations, including major towns and cities, such as Oxford, Reading and Milton Keynes, as well as extensive rural communities and a number of thriving market towns.
The Force has a significant and diverse property portfolio of some 1.2 million sq. ft. comprising of a variety of property types including police stations, residential accommodation, training facilities, industrial assets, and various specialist facilities.
Thames Valley Police are seeking to appoint a Capital Project Manager, who will play a key role in the development and delivery of a substantial £multimillion custody development programme. TVP is planning to deliver a programme that will modernise their custody estate and provide fit-for purpose operationally resilient custody centres. This programme will include both new build and refurbishment schemes with individual project values ranging from £5m to £30m.
Reporting to the Head of Capital Projects you will be responsible for the day- to-day project and programme management of the custody estate programme, leading projects from outline business case, through design, procurement and delivery.
The successful candidate will have demonstrable construction project management experience, having taken responsibility for managing projects in the £5m to £30m value range. You will have strong commercial and technical skills, with experience of contract procurement and administration. Experience of working on refurbishment projects in a live, operational environment is critical, as is the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholder groups.
Experience of working in the public sector is not essential, however we are seeking candidates that demonstrate an understanding and enthusiasm for the positive contribution that buildings and the estate makes towards the delivery of operational policing for Thames Valley Police.
