Location:  Stockton-on-Tees, Durham University International Study Centre

Salary: up to £32.28 per hour (DOE)

The purpose of the role is to deliver highly effective modules at International Foundation Year (Pre Undergraduate, level 3), in the Centre. We are looking for candidates with a specific background in teaching Geography. Experience in teaching other subjects within the Arts and Humanities would be an advantage. 

You will play a key role by contributing to the development of teaching materials and formative assessment.

ABOUT THE ROLE

• Delivering modules (face-to-face) to international students studying on programmes offered by the Centre and assisting with the development of modules. 
• Developing modules from module specifications. This will include schemes of learning along with appropriate development of learning resources. 
• Preparing module examinations and other forms of formative and summative assessment, marking and providing feedback to students. 
• Assisting with the development and maintenance of the Centre’s virtual learning environment (VLE). Facilitating student access to same.
• Providing input for related modules to the annual review and reporting process.
• Maintaining an accurate and up-to-date record of student attendance and performance.
• Providing, when/if required, academic learning support to a small number of students.
• Participating in regular meetings with teaching and support staff.
• Supporting various student engagement activities around the ISC.
• Attending lectures given by Durham University to support student progression.
• Arranging and supporting visits to places of interest linked to the subject.

ABOUT YOU

• A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject (Essential)
• A recognised teaching qualification (Essential)
• A Master’s degree or equivalent in a related subject area (Desirable) 
• Teaching experience delivering Geography programmes within a Sixth Form, Further Education or Higher Education context (Essential)
• Teaching experience delivering other modules within the Arts and Humanities (Desirable)
• Experience working with international students (Desirable)
