Job description
Utilises advanced specialist knowledge and technical skills, to provide effective clinical and managerial leadership that empowers staff to deliver outstanding, evidence-based care to the critically ill patients and their significant others. Providing effective mentorship and supervision of staff and participating in formal and informal teaching. Represent the critical care unit and Critical Care Outreach Team (CCOT) at operational and strategic meetings. Provide supportive line management of a developing team, compromising registered practitioners, assistants, and support staff. Promotes staff wellbeing, team cohesion and civility. Promotes, supports, and participates in clinical audit, research, training, and quality improvement, to maintain and monitor standards of care, ensuring patient safety and care standards remain high. Promotes clinical governance and risk management within the department learning from any errors that do occur to improve service delivery. To resolve any failings in the standards of care we pride ourselves on or any lapses in the Trust values, ensuring the correct processes are implemented to efficiently deal with and rectify the issues identified, ensuring any duty of candour is observed. In conjunction with the Patient Advise and Liaison service (PALS) respond to any complaints in accordance with Trust policy. Coordinates and manages the rosters to align skill mix and patient acuity. To ensure the estate is safe and the environment is safe for practice. In conjunction with the recruitment team be involved with the recruitment process ensuring the establishment meets service needs.
