Job description
We are currently seeking a Senior Chemist to join a well-established, family-run SME based in Northwich. Your day to day will mostly be product development, where you focus on developing new and innovative water based, solvent based and hot melt adhesives which give market-leading advantages to the sales team. You will be involved directly with suppliers and customers. You will learn about new and novel raw materials, reporting this back to the board in addition to getting new prices on raw materials to drive cost savings. You will be partnering with sales to support customers’ product/ technical requirements to aid formulating and product development.
Key duties and responsibilities...
- Ensure that the development products are done to a timescale to bring market leading products to customers, ensure presence for any scale-up batches at production sites, including in Europe.
- Reformulating products to reduce cost, improve products.
- Evaluating new raw materials and novel technologies.
- Present project progress at the Monthly R&D Meeting
- Provide update to the Board on Tech Project Status as required.
- Ensure that all batches are retained correctly, ensure data is stored correctly, liase with suppliers with any incorrect results
- Ensure all products have a specification in place and any production works orders are raised correctly.
- All MSDS and Reach statements in place.
- Ensure ISO 9001 compliance, re-writing any SOPs as required.
- Supporting on patent applications as and when required.
- Support customer technical work, particularly for new applications – this could include making sample batches and preparing coatings
Requirements
- At Least a HND or above in a science – either Physics or Chemistry
- At least 3 years of experience in new product development from scope to commercialisation
- At least 3 years of experience in formulating in a transferable technology such as inks, coatings etc
- Driving licence to travel around UK and occasionally Europe
- Experienced in raw material technologies
- Experience in scaling up lab batches to production batches
- Computer literate on word, excel etc to reasonable level
Hours: 07:00 - 4:30pm (Mon-Fri)
Benefits
Salary- 25-38k
Monday- Friday 7.30am-4.30pm Flexible
