What you’ll be doing

As the Education Manager, you'll oversee the IET Faraday® Challenge Day programme and associated projects, guided by our Head of Education, Safeguarding & Education Policy. Your responsibilities will span strategy execution, stakeholder management, and budget oversight, ensuring alignment with the IET's vision and standards.

Attention to detail, proficiency in IT tools like MS Office, and a problem-solving mindset are crucial. An in-depth understanding of UK education systems and prior experience in education and STEM enrichment environments are highly desirable.

A little more about the role

 Managing the successful season delivery of the IET Faraday® Challenge Day programme.
 Have overall responsibility for the on-going and day-to-day operational management, evaluation and growth of the IET Faraday® Challenge Day programme.
 Support the Head of Education with the strategic planning, development and managing the IET Faraday® Challenge Day programme.
 The initiation and development of strategic partnerships at regional and national level to support and help the IET Faraday® Challenge Day programme grow in line with the IET Education strategy.
 Manage all aspects, and be responsible for, the IET Faraday® Challenge Day programme National Final.
 Work with the Head of Education and other IET departments where required for the IET Faraday® Challenge Day programme delivery.
 Work closely with the Fundraising team to seek financial support (donations and sponsorship) and collaboration opportunities for product development and delivery.
 Ensure the IET Faraday® Challenge Day programme delivery partners meet the IET’s data protection and safeguarding policies and have completed and signed the delivery partner contract and any support fund protocols.
 Work with the IET marketing department to produce templated assets for promoting the IET Faraday® Challenge Day programme and, that the delivery partners meet obligations on branding, promotion and feedback.
 Develop and deliver initial and annual training materials for delivery partners, including all elements of the New Season Partner Training, which is to be delivered annually.
 Have overall responsibly of managing the relationship with the IET Faraday® Challenge Day programme theme partners.
 Manage and control the IET Faraday® Challenge Day programme budget and work with the finance team to report expenditure across the different work orders allocated to the programme, including the programme sponsors and donors.
 Have overall responsibility for all safeguarding aspects of IET Faraday® Challenge Day programme delivered by the IET.
 Comply with data protection legislation and act responsibly on matters of data disclosure both internally and to third parties.
 Have overall responsibility with the support of the department administrators, for the IET Faraday® Challenge Day programme administration apart from where administrative support from within the department and elsewhere within the IET has been agreed.

 Strong experience in running and preferably leading activities within budget and within timescale.
 Systematic, flexible and responsive to new issues
 Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence, persuade, motivate at all levels and lead large teams.
 Demonstrable excellent verbal and written communication skills
 Sound organisational and planning skills, with the ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.
 Experience of training and producing training materials
 Experience of event management
 Good budget management and business planning experience
 Fully IT literate including MS Office
 Credibility to work with Science, Maths and Design & Technology teachers, lecturers and academics, other educators, STEM Ambassadors and those working in STEM Enhancement and Enrichment activities.
 Preparedness to travel particularly within the UK.
