Construction Lawyer – Contentious (75%) and non-contentious (25%) – 0-5 PQE
Construction Solicitor – Associate or Senior Associate - Leeds
Growing construction team – Leeds (UK) – This expanding team is looking for a talented construction lawyer. Work consists of a mix on contentious (75%) and non-contentious matters (25%). The department handles a vast range of domestic and international work for major contractors in the private sector with some public sector work. Ideally, the Partner is looking for construction experience. However, they will also consider those who are passionate about developing a career in construction and are looking for the opportunity to make use of their transferable skills. Therefore, if you are genuinely interested in construction (even if you don’t necessarily have any previous experience) and have a strong CV, we would like to hear from you.

- Expertise: The team is ideally looking for bright and capable lawyers. Prior construction experience would obviously be an advantage. Nevertheless, the Partners are equally open to considering candidates with no construction experience but who have strong transferable skills and are interested in developing a career in this area of law.
More about the Leeds construction team This is a rapidly growing team, which was recently joined by a new Partner who is looking to grow the offering further. Clients include major national contractors operating across a range of sectors including sports and leisure, public sector and manufacturing. The spread of work is weighted towards contentious (75%) with some non-contentious (25%). The contentious work in particular is highly complex and can be multi-jurisdictional in nature.
The team works collectively across its national and international network of offices and the successful candidate can expect a rich variety of challenging and exciting instructions.
Examples or recent work:
- Renewable energy project - advising UK contractor in relation to construction of new windfarm scheme
- Advising developer into multi-million-pound mixed use leisure scheme.
- Advising European contractor in relation to construction of new public transport network
Ideal candidate – opportunity for retrain Obviously, previous construction experience would be an advantage, but the team have made it clear that they put equal weight on the candidate as a whole. They are open to and are actively considering candidates from 0 PQE upwards who, whilst they may not have any previous experience in construction work, display the enthusiasm and interest in the work to develop.
Perhaps you have a strong litigation background in another area of law coupled with a strong academic record. Equally, you might have solid experience in a transactional discipline.
