Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: TTL Head Office
Department: Engineering
Key Objectives:
Reporting to the Mechanical/Process Design Lead, they will undertake design of Mechanical/Process systems for projects across O&G and GDN work, carryout technical reviews of designs, appraise quotations for materials/components, liaison with clients, third party consultants & suppliers. Provision of technical support to in-house manufacturing and project managers, ensure the design elements of the program are completed on time and designs are drawn-up in accordance with applicable specifications and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Attend in-house and client weekly meetings providing technical support to project managers
Liaison with clients and sub-suppliers of the technical delivery of the projects in conjunction with the Project PM
Undertaking design reviews and attending design review meetings
In house manufacturing support based on produced design
Specifying project materials
Manage, report and approve the delivery of project drawings and associated records
Attend project handover with the sales team if needed
Sales quote input if needed
Manage build queries for both the workshop and site work if needed
Communicate Good Practice to other projects with reference to the Performance Improvement Procedure
Responsible for their own health and safety and that of others and undertake the obligations as defined within the TTL H&S Manual.
Assist in the implementation of the TTL Quality Assurance, Environmental Management System, abide and promote its Policies and Procedures.
Academic qualifications and level of education – Essential
Mechanical Engineering qualification to HNC/HND (or equivalent) level
Academic qualifications and level of education – Desirable
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering disciplin
Chartered Engineer (Applicable to discipline)
Member of the Institution of Measurement and Control,
MIET – Member of the Institution Engineering & Technology,
Member Institute of Eng Designers,
Member of the Institution of Engineering Technology
Specific Skills – Essential
Competent in the use of MS Excel, Word and Outlook.
Computer literate with a good understanding of Microsoft Office products
Excellent organisational skills & manage own worked load to meet deadlines
Knowledge and experience of the design life cycles of a project
Specific Skills – Desirable
Knowledge of ATEX and Mechanical design of systems for hazardous areas
Knowledge – Essential
Experience in equipment engineering specifications and standards
Organised and methodical drawing/document control.
Knowledge of build processes.
Awareness of the regulations and standards applicable to Mechanical/Process systems.
Display good commercial awareness.
Knowledge – Desirable
Familiarity with Small Bore Pipe Work Systems.
