Applications are invited to join the Endoscopy team as a Band 5 Care Group Support Officer within the Medicine directorate. This opportunity will present a variety of roles within service management, such as; DM01, 18 Week RTT (ensuring that we are in accordance to local and national targets), demand and capacity, communication networking, managing patient pathways, procedural management, clinic configuration and staff management. As part of the Care Group management team you will need to work flexibly to meet the demands of the service and be able to work effectively with all clinical and non-clinical personnel.

Previous experience in managing a service is essential in addition to a calm and confident aptitude in a sometimes demanding and challenging environment.

Care Group Support Officer

Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust provides a first class integrated acute and community healthcare service within the West Midlands serving a population of 260,000 residents. It employs more than 4,000 staff with a combined total income of just over £220m. Walsall Manor Hospital houses the full range of district general hospital services with 550 acute beds.

£50m has been invested in healthcare services over the last 12 months across the hospital estate which includes two new, state-of-the-art MRI scanners, the creation of a new 22 bedded Intensive Care Unit a new Obstetric Theatre and expansion of the Neonatal Unit.

The role of this position is to support the Care Group Management team in the delivery and management of all patients on the DM01 and 18 week RTT pathways, both outpatient and in-patient; ensuring adherence to local and national targets. In addition, you will be required to ensure that processes within the care group pathways and quality indicators are being met. This will involve working with various levels of personnel in order to ensure that deadlines are met.

The Support Officer will support the Care Group Management team with the overall supervision of the medical secretariat within Long Term Conditions.

General Responsibilities - Managerial:
To supervise and lead a group of staff within the Medical Secretariat and incorporating all staff issues:

Sickness Management
Recruitment and Selection
Induction Training
Mandatory training and development in accordance with organisation policies
Training of staff in the work place
KSF Process and facilitation of continued professional development
Attendance records/signing time sheets
Managing of annual leave and time in lieu
Overtime management
Competency issues
Disciplinary issues – initiate appropriate action
Investigate and action complaints
Ensure a continuous level of staffing is available in the relevant areas
