About this client/child: Adam is 10 years old, living in Romford with his Mummy, Daddy, and younger brother. Adam has a long list of hobbies and interests, including dancing, swimming, playing with his toy vehicles (especially tractors), video games, watching Disney movies, learning about animals; this list is not exhaustive! It is safe to say Adam loves life and is full of energy and fun. Adam has Cerebral Palsy and ADHD, he is mobile, using a wheelchair for longer distances. He is an extremely capable young chap and is excited for his SEN Support Worker to assist him with his independence skills. Adam uses an iPad, sounds and gestures to support his verbal communication, he is making great progress with his communication using his iPad, a path Adam’s Mum and Dad are keen to continue to develop.

Overview of role: Adam’s Weekend SEN Support Worker will plan fun, engaging activities, outings, and support Adam to participate in family time activities. We are keen for Adam to explore new interests and hobbies and really make the most of his weekends. In this position, you’ll support Adam with his self-help skills, continually promote his independence, his therapy programme (with guidance and training by his therapist), support with personal care and toilet training, whilst supporting Adam’s overall development. Adam requires 2:1 support when out in the community, this will be provided by his parent or another team member. The family can be flexible with the weekends, therefore if you do not have the availability to work both Saturday and Sunday, please apply and we can discuss further.

Who this job would suit: A fun, personable, proactive, enthusiastic, and patient SEN Support Worker. You do not have to come from a Support Worker background, the most important experience for this role is that you have previously supported a young person with ADHD and have excellent childcare experience. This could be an ideal role for a Teaching Assistant (TA) or student looking for additional income, or an experienced support worker looking for a flexible role.

What’s great about this job: Adam has huge potential and with your support he will exceed all his goals and targets. Excellent personal centered training and the opportunity to work with experienced therapist. Ongoing support and supervision provided by Adam’s case management team. Please apply today!
