Multi skilled technician or engineer. West Byfleet. Permanent. £28,000 – £32,000

Driver Hire is looking to recruit a multi skilled technician or engineer to join a leading international supplier of heating and dehumidifying equipment to the UK construction market.

Based in their West Byfleet depot, you will be responsible for the inspection, testing (including PAT tests), servicing, repair and maintenance of their extensive stock.

When new equipment is imported to the UK, you will inspect it and make sure all stock complies with various UK regulations & requirements. Once equipment has been returned from hire, you will inspect it, make repairs where required and service / clean it, so it’s ready for the next customer.

You will need to be organised, as you will be responsible for keeping records of all items, repairs, servicing and testing up to date as well and managing the stock control system. You’ll also prepare orders ready for deliver, help load and unload vehicles and may even assist with the occasional delivery, for which you will drive a Luton sized van.

****   Benefits, Hours and Pay of the Engineer / Technician  ****

• £28,000 – £32,000 depending on experience
• Monday to Friday
• Typically 7.30am to 5pm
• Plus 28 days holiday per annum

****   Responsibilities of the Engineer / Technician  ****

• Loading / Unloading equipment as it is delivered to site
• Check stand-alone heating and dehumidifying units for correct labelling
• Carry out PAT tests
• Record all service and test results
• Service units as they are returned from hire
• Ensure units are always ready to be re-hired
• Keep all stock control records up to date
• Delivery driving around the UK in a Luton style van if necessary
• Install units on site if requested
• General stores and warehouse help
• Keep stocks and stores area clean, tidy and safe

****   Requirements of the Engineer / Technician  ****

• Previous engineering, maintenance or servicing experience, previous tool or plant hire would be ideal
• UK Driving licence
• Verifiable references
• Flexible attitude with a “can do” mentality
