WAREHOUSE MANAGER
£37,500.00 - £45,000.00 DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE
MONDAY - FRIDAY, WORKING 42.5 HOURS PER WEEK
FLEXIBLE WORKING HOURS BETWEEN 07:00AM - 18:00PM
MAY BE REQUIRED TO WORK NIGHTS WHEN NEEDED
Our client is an independent, family-owned business supplying to the Wholesale, Food Service, and Fast-Food sectors across the UK.
They operate as a national wholesale and foodservice distribution business.
They have a custom-built distribution premise with an integrated cold store and chiller and offer a wide range of products.
With over 44 years of service to the food catering industry we supply over 3000 core lines of products which has seen double digit growth year on year.
About the role:
We are looking to recruit a Warehouse Manager within our operations division.
This role is required to work Monday - Friday and is based at our Skelmersdale depot.
This is a crucial role in the business that will work closely alongside the rest of the senior leadership team reporting directly to the Managing Director.
The Warehouse Manager will be responsible for overseeing the efficient operation of the warehouse, ensuring optimal utilisation of the internal and external space, resources, and personnel.
Responsible for maintaining a safe and organised warehouse with the support of your team leaders across a nearly 24-hour operation.
The job role includes:
* Overseeing all Warehouse activities on a day-to-day basis.
* Overseeing the effective management of the warehouse functions including Goods In, Goods Out and Stock Control.
* Overseeing stock-taking, inventory control and related investigations as required.
* Support the Stock Control Manager on creating and maintaining an effective inventory control system and warehouse plan.
* Support the Stock Control Manager on conducting regular stock audits according to the schedule.
* Proactively engage with colleagues across the business, particularly the Purchasing department and Sales teams to maximise Warehouse storage capacity efficiently in line with forecast and seasonal fluctuations.
* Ensuring Quality Control processes are robustly implemented to ensure all stock is received, stored and delivered in optimum condition.
* Ensure high levels of accuracy of inventory and purity across the Warehouse function and outside storage.
* Address customer enquiries and concerns related to warehouse operations.
* Supervise, motivate and lead warehouse staff including the team leaders, including training, scheduling and performance management.
* Foster a positive and collaborative team culture.
* Delegate tasks and responsibilities to maximise efficiency.
* Continuously identify opportunities for process optimisation and efficiency improvements.
* Drive efficient use of resources (people, tools, item placement) through development and maintenance of KPI's.
* Maintaining a good physical condition of the warehouse environment by planning and implementing new design layouts; inspecting equipment; issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement.
* Maintaining a high level of health and safety and food safety in your department.
* Taking responsibility for the operating procedures and disciplines within the warehouse, ensuring full compliance and undertaking the planning and deployment of labour resources to meet the volume of dispatch, picking and goods-in requirement.
* Control the use of site keys e.g., opening and closing.
About you:
* Proven experience working in a Warehouse environment at management level across an in-bound and out-bound multi-shift Operation.
* Have strong Health and Safety awareness ideally NEBOSH/IOSH trained (desired)
* Have good time management skills with the ability to set priorities, fulfil critical tasks in time and keep to deadlines
* Good multitasking skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
* Excellent communication skills
* Ability to collaborate with managers across the business
* Strong leadership and interpersonal skills including motivating, training and developing staff
* Strong team player
* Have a hands-on approach to all duties
* High level of numeracy, literacy and IT skills (SAP knowledge desired)
* Problem-solving skills and an ability to work at a strategic level under pressure
* Proven track record to contribute to the improvement of systems to achieve efficiency savings
