Job description

What you will do in your working day

As a Business Administration Apprentice, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and timely operation of their accounting processes, including general administration, credit control, sales order processing, purchasing and general accounting. You'll gain hands-on experience in liaising with internal departments, suppliers and customers.

Firm Contribution

Role Specific

• Assisting Finance Department with day-to-day duties.

• Assisting with raising sales invoices and credit notes.

• Assisting with processing supplier invoices and payments.

• Supplier statement reconciliations.

• Ensuring invoices match up with purchase orders.

• Processing staff expenses and credit card transactions.

• Daily bank accounts reconciliations.

• Prepare and send out weekly and monthly statements to customers.

• Communicating with suppliers and customers by phone and email.

• Assisting with month-end preparation.

• Working as part of a team to meet deadlines.

• Assisting with administrative tasks (filing and scanning)

Key Skills / Attributes

• An interest to build career in finance.

• Good communication skills and telephone manner.

• Attention to detail.

• Well organised.

• Good knowledge of Microsoft products (Word, Excel, Outlook) - desirable, but not essential Client Care.

• To ensure the highest possible levels of customer and supplier care are delivered thereby ensuring excellent levels of customer satisfaction and repeat business.

Confidentiality

• Protection of confidential information is a fundamental feature of your relationship with customers, suppliers, and the Company. It exists as a concept both as a matter of law and as a matter of conduct.

Compliance

• To be aware of your responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and ensure safe working practices are always followed.

• To demonstrate technical ability appropriate to the role.

• To demonstrate an understanding of the professional and statutory requirements within which the Company operates.

Teamwork

• To contribute to the department generally, taking an active part in meetings.

The training you will be getting

Full Level 3 Business Administrator Standard.

All training will take place at the employers’ premises.

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

The possibility of full time employment on the successful completion of the apprenticeship. The aim is to progress to a position finance, with subsequent opportunities for advancement within the department or across the broader company. In the long term, there are likely opportunities to progress to supervisor and then manager levels. This is an entry level role and comes with full training and support. Great opportunity for someone with no previous experience to get into accounts.
