European Accountant

We are currently looking for a French-speaking European Accountant to form an integral part of the finance team, reporting directly into the Financial Controller. The European Accountant is responsible for the financial processes, internal controls and timely production of management and financial accounts for the Group’s France subsidiary.

The Role:
- Number one contact in Finance for France subsidiary including day to day financial stewardship.
- Management of Purchase Ledger including owning supplier relationships, invoicing and weekly payment runs.
- Liaise with Group Sales Ledger on customer debt collection.
- Commercial finance support to Sales teams.
- Preparation of monthly management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Preparation of year end statutory accounts.
- Preparation and submission of local monthly VAT returns.
- Preparation of all other local regulatory filings (including corporate and local tax returns and submissions).
- Ensure compliance with all local accounting and legal requirements.
- Support the Group Financial Controller with:
- Group process improvement initiatives and projects.
- Challenge the existing methodology and controls, map out the current process and recommend improvements and work closely with the management team to implement appropriate policies and procedures.
- Ad hoc projects.
- Group risk management.
- Develop relationships with key business stakeholders and deliver commercial insight into results to enable these stakeholders to better understand and improve business performance.
- Proactively engage in projects with these stakeholders that grow business value.
The Candidate:
- Partly or Fully qualified accountant (either ACCA/ACA qualified or studying towards)
- Fluent in both verbal & written French and English.
- German language is desirable but not essential.
- Expertise in French VAT/TVA & end of year accounts
- Experience of conducting French Tax and VAT returns
- Experience of preparing French year end statutory accounts.
- Experience of intercompany sales, transfer pricing and group consolidation.
- Strong stakeholder management, with ability to build relationships at all levels
- High attention to detail, time management.
