Job description
As you may expect from a firm that has repeatedly won the prestigious, “World’s Most Ethical Insurance Broker” award, this global takes both the strength of its claims proposition, and employee advancement very seriously. As such, this is a superb opportunity for a dedicated Claims Handler to forge a career with a broker where prospects for progression and development are only limited by your ambition.
This team handles claims on behalf of all the broker’s clients across the whole of Yorkshire, and as such, it is a very visible role where you will enjoy a high profile across the region, and you can be based from any one of a number of offices (in a hybrid/ remote capacity).
As a senior member of the Claims Team, you will deal with a caseload of more complex or contentious losses, or those pertaining to key clients. You will be dealing with clients from a wide variety of industry sectors such as Construction, Logistics & Distribution, Manufacturing and Engineering, and accordingly, have a caseload of claims spanning Property, Motor, Liability and Financial Lines losses, to name but a few.
Most of your clients will sit within the Corporate Division and generate fee income in excess of £75,000 per annum, although your expertise may be occasionally be called upon to deal with commercial and mid-corporate clients suffering major losses, such as work place fatalities and the like.
As one would expect from a broker that prides itself on its client-centric approach, you will regularly visit clients onsite (typically accompanying an Account Executive / Director) for renewal meetings, reviewing claims histories or, of course, in the event of a loss. You will lead the claims process, including actively managing relations with clients, insurers, loss adjusters etc, and personally negotiate with insurers to bring about swift, favourable settlement. You will investigate the circumstances surrounding any claim, and scrutinise policy wordings to mitigate any chances of under insurance / no cover and ensure clients obtain maximum possible coverage under the terms of their insurance programme. As well as reacting to active files, you will also play a key part in supporting colleagues in reducing both costly losses and future years’ premiums by analysing claims trends, and producing reports to identify any areas of concern. As a senior member of the team, you will also be expected to help less-experienced colleagues in their training and development.
We are keen to hear from client-service focused claims professionals from a range of environments such as insurance brokers, insurance companies or adjusters. Ideally, you will be au fait with a range of insurance covers, although we welcome applications from outstanding candidates with, for example, just Property or Liability experience, who can demonstrate the ability to quickly get up to speed on all claims classes.
You must have excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), be an excellent negotiator, and pride yourself on your ability to build rapport with both internal and external stakeholders from all walks of life (including senior personnel at £100M + turnover companies). You must also be naturally curious, with excellent attention to detail, and superb problem-solving skills to ensure you can obtain your clients the best possible settlement terms.
In return, you will receive a generous basic salary (anticipated to be to be circa £40K, but negotiable for outstanding candidates) plus bonus and a fantastic ‘flexible’ benefits package that can be tweaked to your personal circumstances.
