To provide a skilled hardware build/assembly, installation, cabling and decommissioning service in line with customer requirements. Work with Hardware Engineer Team Leader to support scoping activities to structure specific delivery solutions, ensuring customer expectations can be met within the planned parameters on timing, costs and use of resources.
- Ensure that customer expectations are being met and exceeded associated with hardware engineering.
- Ensure quality of delivery to clients to ensure client satisfaction, and best position the company for additional business.
- To validate customer cabling and power specifications/configuration.
- Installation and configuration of operating systems – Windows, Linux, VMware on customer sites.
- Firmware version control and diagnostic testing.
- Manage logging of hardware warranty events as necessary through to completion.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose hardware and software issues during builds and site installs.
- To perform data erasure services both at Voyager Park and on customer sites.
- Effective communication to keep customer account teams fully appraised of all build, site survey and install activities.
- Adhere to Health & Safety and Risk Management procedures during all activities both at Bell and on customer sites.
- Adhere to industry best practise and published vendor guideline documentation when carrying out installations or decommissioning work.
- Advise the management team immediately if any problems connected to any of the items listed occur that have an impact on the business.
- Provide after-hours coverage for customer management associated with the managed services function
- Mentoring of Junior Engineers.
- Create and maintain technical process and procedural documents
- Work closely with the Hardware Engineer Manager to understand future managed services requirements, and opportunities for personal development
- As required, to acquire relevant IT industry qualifications to fulfil Bell Integration partner status with suppliers.
- Minimum of 2 years IT background and experience in the enterprise technologies (such as IBM, EMC, Microsoft)
- Hardware engineering skills across heterogeneous environments
- Windows, Linux, VMware knowledge and skills; installing, configuring & administering.
- Blanco product skills/knowledge (Hard drive erasure)
- Knowledge of health and safety standards and risk management
- Knowledge of and understanding of best practice in carrying out installs and decomms
- Experience participating in large scale projects and teams
Other requirements
- Clean manual driving licence
- Valid passport
- Ability to pass BS7858:2012 vetting
- Ability to hold UK NSV SC clearance
- Ability to travel to domestic & overseas customer sites, including overnight stays
- Able to work out of hours including night and weekend work
