Job description

We are recruiting a Highway Depot Operative at Caerphilly County Borough Council.

Working hours: 37 Hours – 7.4 hours Monday - Friday
Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time
Location: Penmaen Depot / Bedwas Depot

This is an exciting opportunity to join Team Caerphilly and provide support across the wider Network Contracting Services.

We pay an attractive salary of £24,294 - £25,979 and offer access to training and development opportunities.

A Highway Depot Operative post is being advertised by Network Contracting Services (NCS) of Caerphilly County Borough Council.

The dynamic, front-line service covers a range of duties including reactive patching and masonry repairs, gully cleansing and drainage repairs, emergency highway response (including out-of-hours) and winter maintenance service delivery.

The post holder will assist the delivery of all work streams, by issuing materials to the NCS workforce. They shall be responsible for the control and issue of stock material, small construction plant and personal protective equipment within their care at the designated Highway depot.

The post holder will primarily support the service area by ensuring the depot is a safe and clean working environment.

For the role, we ask that you have:

1. Good understanding of working within construction related activities, particularly Highways.
2. Full UK Category B (car) driving licence, to drive a Council vehicle.
3. Experience of highway construction or maintenance.
