Job description
RPS are working with a global, tier 1 aerospace manufacturer who are looking for a Site Director in their 200 employee, Farnborough facility. The Site Director has overall responsibility for all site operations across manufacturing engineering, production, quality and EH&S, SIOP & logistics and maintenance departments.
Site Director Responsibilities
- Managing employee performance, training staff, and developing new hires as needed, recruitment and retention of staff
- Responsibility for day to day operations, output and planning activities within the cells
- Capacity management
- Developing and implementing plans to take the cells to world class status including: reduction in lead time, reduction in inventory holding, utilisation of continuous improvement techniques, aggressive lean implementation, preparing and justifying capital expenditure
- Maintaining inventory controls and ordering supplies needed to operate the plant
- Building and leading the teams to achieve the above including communication, training, recruitment and performance management
- Management of department cost centre budgets, expenditure, variances and capital budget/assets.
- Champion lean processes across operations the production area following the EOS
- Assisting in the introduction of new products from engineering into production
- Coordinating with other departments on site such as Human Resources and Finance to ensure that all aspects of plant operations run smoothly
- Ensuring that all company standards and regulations regarding safety, environmental protection, and labour laws are met
Qualifications/Skills/Experience
Essential
- Previous proven experience in the same or similar role
- Self–motivated, creative, and highly organized, with proven ability to meet deadlines, prioritize workload, and manage time effectively in a high–pressure environment.
- Highly skilled in terms of teamwork, effective communication oral and written and interacting with people at all levels and sectors of the organization.
- Ability to show previous experience of lean implementation
- Degree qualified or equivalent in an engineering discipline is desirable
