Job description
A world-renowned coatings company based in Lewes is currently recruiting an Applications Engineer to join the operations team on a permanent basis. As their Applications Engineer, you will act as a technical and engineering interface between customers and the company’s technical team to deliver coating products and solutions.
Applications Engineer responsibilities
- Conduct outline requirements capture to determine feasibility and suitability of client application to qualify initial leads.
- For second stage qualification of customer enquiries, lead detailed requirements capture discussions. This will involve understand customer aims, explaining our product attributes, defining coating areas, how parts could be coated and handled and clarification of any assumptions.
- Liaison with the engineering team to develop tooling solutions to provide a practical mean for processing customer parts.
- Work with the client to identify any problematic component design features to facilitate or simplify the coating process.
- For each quotation request, ensure that all necessary engineering and technical information is captured on a configuration template.
- Work with BD Directors to share calculated cost estimates – so that pricing can be agreed.
Applications Engineer requirements
- A degree level qualification in chemistry, materials science or an engineering discipline such as mechanical, chemical etc.
- A strong understanding of associated production processes.
- Technical understanding of coating technology and coating processes.
- Understanding of manufacturing requirements/constraints with regard to application of coating technology.
- Experience of working with customers to manage complex projects with detailed and challenging technical content.
- Team player and comfortable with taking individual and collective responsibility.
