This an exciting new role at an expanding and people centered multi-academy trust, leading the development, implementation, and oversight of science across all three secondary schools and provide support for our three primary schools.

With Science being such a key component of academic outcomes, our Trust now wishes to further raise standards by appointing a high-quality practitioner with a proven track record of high-quality outcomes in accordance with our Trust values and ambitions.

This role is ideal for a practitioner who is ambitious and keen to advance their career in a leadership role but has a strong commitment to the teaching of science.

The successful candidate will enjoy a leadership role, with considerable freedoms to innovate and design systems to obtain the high standards expected by our Trust.

You would join our passionate and dedicated Trust school improvement team working alongside our Lead for Quality of Education, our Lead for Creative Learning and our primary specialists.

The successful applicant will have: 

·       Experience of leading a science department in a secondary school setting for at least three years.

·       Experience of supporting and developing the classroom pedagogy of colleagues.

·       A track record of outstanding outcomes for students, particularly progress.

·       Drive to improve the implementation of the Science curriculum through regular monitoring and evaluation, providing heads of department with on-going and impactful guidance, support and training.

·       The ability to identify, cultivate and share best practice from departments and teachers across the Trust.

·       Experience of using coaching and mentoring as an approach to teacher development

·       Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with all stakeholders and motivate those working with them.

·       An in depth understanding and appreciation of evidence-based, outcome- focused, curriculum design.

·       Innovative, adaptable, and solution focused skills.

·       Resilience and dedication in achieving outcomes

·       Commitment to continuing professional development, personal development, and familiarity with the latest pedagogical research and developments.

·       Strong communication skills, with natural empathy, who works positively with other professionals upholding our value of ‘Respect all, from all’
