SEN Teaching Assistant - Primary School

Job Description: We are seeking a passionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team and provide essential support to students with Special Educational Needs across the primary school. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with teachers to deliver high-quality education and ensure that all students receive the tailored support they need to succeed.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging and interactive lessons, adapting materials and activities to meet the diverse needs of students with SEN.
  • Provide 1:1 support to students with SEN, helping them to access the curriculum, develop key skills, and overcome barriers to learning.
  • Support the social and emotional development of students with SEN, promoting positive behavior and fostering a respectful and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Work closely with the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and other support staff to implement individualized learning plans and interventions for students with SEN.
  • Collaborate effectively with teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure that the individual needs of students with SEN are identified and met.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate regularly with teachers and parents regarding student achievements and areas for development.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working with children, particularly those with Special Educational Needs, preferably in an educational setting.
  • A compassionate and patient approach, with a genuine passion for supporting the learning and development of children with SEN.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, responding effectively to the diverse needs of students with SEN.
  • A commitment to upholding the values and ethos of the school and promoting a culture of respect, diversity, and inclusion.
