Job description

We are currently working with a well-established Civil Engineering consultancy seeking to recruit a Flood Modelling Engineer to join their team based in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire. The ideal candidate will contribute to the successful delivery of flood risk and surface water management for development projects. You will work on a wide variety of projects which include estate regeneration, urban developments, industrial facilities, highways, and flood alleviation schemes where flood risk is a key aspect of a development. You will offer due diligence flood risk advice to stakeholders as well as carry out flood studies in the public sector.Your responsibilities will include: Undertaking hydrological studies using FEH methods and software (principally WINFAP4 and ReFH2).Undertaking and supervising the production of Flood Risk Assessments, mitigation design and hydraulic modelling (using Flood Modeller Pro, TUFLOW and HEC-RAS).Liaising, negotiating, and communicating with clients and external agencies i.e. Local lead Flood Authorities, Environment Agency, Regional Highway and Sewerage authorities, etc.Undertaking pre-purchase feasibility studies and resolution of planning conditions including drainage feasibility and / or flooding considerations. Knowledge of design and implication of flood risk assessments and SUDs techniques essential. Skills & Experience Required: Nearing chartership with a relevant body commensurate with your academic qualifications (i.e. CIWEM or ICE).2-4 years experience within a similar consultancy.Working experience of MicroDrainage, Flood Modeller Pro, TUFLOW or similar 1D-2D hydraulic modelling software.Working experience of hydrological software (primarily WINFAP4, and ReFH2).Use of AutoCAD/Autodesk Civil 3D preferred but not essential.Use of GIS software (QGIS) preferred but not essential.Working experience of FRAs, SuDS and Pre-Planning civils.Working knowledge and experience of drainage design, and S104 agreements is an added advantage. As mentioned, this role is based in Warwickshire and would therefore suit individuals based in the surrounding areas such as Coventry, Solihull, or Birmingham.
