Job description
Renishaw’s Group Operations Division is currently seeking to recruit an Applications Engineer. This position offers the opportunity to work with the latest developments from Renishaw in CMM and Gauging machine and sensor technologies and metrology software, applied within the most diverse, demanding and technologically advanced manufacturing processes. Renishaw’s customers include aerospace, performance motorsport, automotive and medical companies.
To be the face of CMM & Gauging customer support and the first line of Renishaw’s customer interactions
To provide customers with training in the use of Renishaw CMM and Gauging product range
To provide technical support to existing customers via multiple media options
To prepare and deliver customer product demonstrations and exhibitions
Interaction with Renishaw development engineers regarding the use of new equipment and software and/or its integration with third-party equipment
Writing technical documentation
Key requirements
An engineering qualification to a minimum of HNC level (or equivalent) with substantial practical experience in a relevant discipline, or an engineering degree (if newly graduated we require a minimum grade of 2.1)
Good communication and documentation skills
Strong trouble shooting skills
A valid passport ensuring unrestricted travel to and from the UK
A valid driving license
An engineering background in a technical or manufacturing process focussed role
An understanding of manufacturing principles and mechanical drawings including dimensional tolerancing
Knowledge of metrology principles, particularly when applied to the use of a CMM
Practical expertise in the programming of CMM or Gauging metrology software
Proven customer facing experience in a technical role
Experience of writing technical documentation and providing guidance in any capacity
The successful applicant will be committed and customer focussed, self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision. The individual must be adaptable, inquisitive, logical thinking, be able to work in a team and have an aptitude for problem solving.
The role will be based at our New Mills site near Wotton-under-Edge in Gloucestershire.
