20.15 hrs per week, 52.14 weeks per year.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, imaginative and highly motivated Family Support Worker, Early Years, to join our integrated Inclusion and Support Service. ISS brings together Education and Social Policy teams to support children, young people and families who require additional support. The successful applicant will be based within the early years team and will work with families who need additional support to understand and support their child’s development. This is a permanent post.

A number of families that we work with are often subject to statutory measures or Child Protection Registration, with our staff working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to deliver care plans and individual interventions following the national practice model GIRFEC. We also offer support to families whose children experience developmental delays and additional needs. The applicant will be responsible for delivering one to one support to families and their extended family and children, to promote parenting and optimising the child’s opportunities for development and will work in the family home or local community. The work is challenging and fulfilling and the successful applicant will join a motivated and supportive team.

This post is considered Regulated Work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scotland Act 2007. From 28 February 2011 preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council
