Job description
Our NHS client based in Darlington are looking to appoint up to 4 Clinical Coding Officer's on a 6 month temporary contract.
Working hours are Monday to Friday 8.30am -5pm
Experience
- Knowledge of the Clinical Coding Audit processes
- Knowledge of encoding software products
- Knowledge of Health Care Resource Groups (HRG`s)
- Extensive practical Coding experience
- Extensive experience in coding across multiple specialities within an acute hospital setting.
- Experience of using either Paper and Electronic records to extract clinical information
- Experience in using e-Record/ PAS System - Cerner Millennium/ Powerchart, other IT Systems
- Experience in use of encoding software products - Medicode
- Experience of the medical records process
- Experience of working in the NHS
- Able to travel across Trust sites to meet the requirements of the post
- Able to attend training at off site venues
Qualifications:
- National Clinical Coding Qualification ( NCCQ) or degree level education
- A Level or equivalent qualifications
- Certificate in Anatomy & Physiology (advantageous)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Effective organisation and time management skills
Person skills:
- Ability to work to strict and challenging deadlines
- Ability to work autonomously or as part of a team
- IT Skills (including Microsoft Office)
- Detailed knowledge of national coding rules and conventions
- In depth knowledge of ICD-10 and OPCS
- Extensive knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy and physiology
- A working knowledge and understanding of local clinical coding policies and their application
