MacKenzie King are excited to be recruiting a Credit Controller for an award-winning national business, based on the outskirts of Ipswich. As a Credit Controller, you will take responsibility for all areas of the credit control function, including liaison with customers to ensure any queries are resolved and outstanding monies are collected on time. You will also be responsible for providing forecast cash income reports to aid cash flow workings.
Key tasks and responsibilities
- Enforce consistent company credit control procedures.
- Review and analyse aged debt against defined targets.
- Have a proactive approach to chasing all B2B and B2C debts and maintain accurate and up to date notes to record the status of customer accounts.
- Involvement in agreeing debt collection targets.
- Actively engage, on a monthly basis, with managers on debt status and prepare weekly summary reports.
- Identify problem debts that require escalation and liaise with line manager as appropriate.
- Where necessary, engage and manage the process of debts that need to go legal..
- Ensure that invoices/statements raised are sent out to customers in a timely manner.
- Posting of cash received and allocation of payments to the sale ledger accounts, resolving any issues relating to payments received in a timely manner.
- Provide information for consideration of bad debts/doubtful debts provision on a monthly basis.
- Maintain strong working relationships with customer base, Area Sales Managers and other finance team members.
- To obtain credit references for new customers and complete the required system setup, advising the sales reps and sales mangers when complete.
- Monitor list of customers on stop to ensure any queries are resolved quickly.
- Production of manual invoices and any backup information required for sales and send to relevant customers.
- To take responsibility for identifying training and development needs in partnership with line manager.
- To undertake such duties as may reasonably be expected. All members of staff are expected to be professional, co-operative and flexible within the needs of the post, the department and the Company.
Qualifications and experience
- Credit Control Experience, B2B is essential.
- Intermediate Excel skills.
- Confidence communicating at all levels, both internally and externally.
- Ability to adapt and show resilience.
- ERP system experience would be advantageous but not essential.
