Job description

First Marine Solutions (FMS) are a service provider to the local and international renewables and oil & gas sectors specialising in the engineering, design, procurement, installation, and maintenance of mooring systems for floating platforms. FMS also specialise in the planning and undertaking of marine activities related to floating platforms such as towage, vessel loadouts, marine assurance, and assisting with location planning and consent.

The Role:

Due to continued business growth, we are seeking an experienced Survey Engineer to join our team on a full-time permanent basis to attend offshore operations as required.

The primary functions of this position are to undertake and be responsible for pre-mobilisation test and installation, operation and maintenance of FMS and customer owned equipment on site. Also, to act as first-line technical support and service to customers on-site.

As a Survey Engineer, you will be able to confidently take responsibility for the setup, testing, calibration, and operation of a variety of survey and positioning systems.

The Department :

The Survey & Positioning department provides a bespoke service to our clients. Utilising the very best equipment the industry has to offer to provid e faster access to data – safely, efficiently and on time. Some of the core services offered are; Vessel positioning, Remote operation support, Mooring pre-lay installation, Construction support, Geophysical survey, Laser scanning and Dimensional control and ROV inspection .

As an industry striving to reduce carbon footprint and minimise the number of personnel offshore, FMS Survey have heavily invested in Autonomous, Rob otics and Remote solutions .

Your Day:

• Planning and supervising survey activities, including the setup, interfacing, testing, calibration and operation of survey sensors.
• Operating online survey software and monitoring the data quality to ensure the survey specification is achieved.
• Preparing reports including damage / fault reports.
• Implementing and reviewing Planned Maintenance Systems as appropriate.
• Maintaining and administering the inventory of equipment and consumables.
• Providing training to colleagues.
  
  

The Specifics…. (Essential)

• Minimum of 2-5 years ‘hands-on’ experience in a survey orientated electronic or ICT role
• Proficient with DGPS systems, survey software, multibeam, USBL
• Experience in fault finding and reporting.
• Must have a full UK driving license.
• Holds relevant offshore certification.
• Extensive technical understanding and knowledge of the main survey equipment used in offshore survey sector.
• Strong IT skills and good understanding of PC hardware.
• Experience of working in field and offshore as a Survey Engineer.
• Knowledge of Logistics and Customs.
