Job description

Location: Hatfield (Hertfordshire) 5 days office

Type: Permanent

A family run SME construction business based in Hatfield is recruiting a Financial Controller to join their Finance team on a full-time basis. This is a great time to join as the company are about to go through a growth phase and are looking for someone to help facilitate this by supporting the running of the finance function.

Responsibilities:

• Closing the company accounts at month end
• Prepare month end information, monthly Management Accounts and reports
• Manage the finance team to ensure they are managing their work load effectively
• Involved in budgets and forecasting with the Financial Director
• Handle the Annual Accounts and statutory reporting
• Manage the annual statutory audit, including liaising with auditors and overseeing the corporation tax computation
• Manage the annual Research & Development tax credit claim process with the Financial Director
• Manage the VAT returns and other statutory submissions including CIS
• Oversee and be accountable for the monthly payroll cycle for the business, including benefits administration, staff expenses and pensions administration
• Sales ledger and credit control

Experience and attributes required:

• Experience of working in construction industry - Essential
• Experience of managing a finance team - Essential
• Experience of closing company accounts at month end - Essential
• Ideally a Qualified or soon to be qualified - Essential
