Job description
What you will do in your working day
- In an average day, the apprentice will be shadowing an Activity Professional delivering day to day duties in schools and in time, be running their own after school clubs
- The aim is for the applicant to progress onto their own curricular PE delivery.
- Throughout the term, the apprentice will have additional training opportunities such as internal CPD, compliance courses and affiliated qualifications such as British Gymnastics, British Fencing etc.
The training you will be getting
- The applicant will complete the following compliance courses: Paediatric First Aid, Safeguarding, Prevent, GDPR, Equality and Diversity.
- Additionally, they will undertake an Instructor course run by British Gymnastics.
- Other affiliated training opportunities include: Lawn tennis association, British Fencing, British Dodgeball.
- The apprentice will attend the college one day a week where they will look into coaching pedagogy, subject knowledge and start to establish themselves as coaches.
The apprenticeship training is delivered through a combination of workplace learning and regular college attendance. This training will teach you the knowledge, skills and behaviours set out in the Sports Coach Level 4 standard. On completion the apprentice will receive Level 4 Sports Coach qualification.
What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship
By the end of your apprenticeship, the L4 will progress youonto university opportunities at foundation degree level. Equally, we’re always keen to offer internal progressions beyond your apprenticeship such as: Team Leader, Operations Management, Project Management, Wraparound Lead etc.
