- Install and test pipe
- Clip pipes and tighten
- Interpret Drgs (P&IDS) & Diagrams
- Interpret Oral & Written Instructions
- Interpret Material Specs & British Standards
- Interpret Suppliers Instructions & Compliance Requirements
- Interpret Regulations, Rules & Standards
- Interpret Quality Systems & Standards
- Interpret Health & Safety Arrangements
- Operate Equipment & Tools e.g. drills
- Install Machines & Systems e.g. eng room and deck equipment
- Set to work Machines & Systems e.g. eng room and deck equipment
- Repair & Overhaul Machinery & Systems
- Flush & Pressure Test Systems
- Align Pumps, Valves & Shaft
- Apply Resin Chocking Compound
- Install Taper Shafts & Keyways
Qualifications
- Time served apprenticeship
- Be competent in use of hand tools to cut, bend, burn, level, clean, prepare and form various pipework including carbon steel, stainless steel, cunifer and cast iron
- Be able to measure up, read drawings and plan pipe routes from pipe sizes – 15mm to 700 mm diameter
- Comfortable working at heights and confined spaces
Desirable:
- Marine industry experience or similar
Key Interpersonal/Behavioural Skills:
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision and to tight deadlines
- Build good working relationships
