Position Information The Itinerant Support Teacher (Hearing) will be based at Parramatta West Public School. The successful candidate will be responsible for a teaching case load of students from diagnosis to Year 12 across the Parramatta area. They must hold a current driver's licence and have an ability and willingness to travel between work sites.

Specific Selection Criteria

  1. Approval to teach Special Education - Hearing Impairment (Primary and/or Secondary) and a commitment to ongoing professional learning in the field of Deaf and Hard of Hearing Education.
  2. Demonstrated expertise in developing and delivering educational programs that address the needs of students that have a hearing impairment.
  3. Ability to design and implement differentiated Personalised Learning Plans to address the needs of students with a hearing impairment in mainstream, a support class or in a school for specific purposes setting.
  4. Experience in working with families, schools and external agencies to build strong relationships with all stakeholders to promote positive outcomes for students.
  5. Knowledge of and capacity to use assistive technology in supporting equal access to the curriculum for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

This is a permanent part-time position for 5 days per fortnight 0.5 FTE (Full-time equivalent).
