This role is subject to -  

The Capital Programmes Division is looking to recruit an experienced Building Surveyor. The Division reports to the Deputy Chief Executive and is responsible for developing and delivering Major and Minor Capital Programmes across the City. The current value of the programme is approximately. £200m pa. The portfolio of work is varied and some of our current and previous projects that we have been involved in include , for example , the construction of new schools, large scale solar PV installations , building demolition, repair, maintenance & refurbishment of heritage buildings, s chools, galleries, leisure, and park buildings .

The Building Surveyor role is based within the Minor Works Team which is responsible for delivering construction, repair and refurbishment projects which range from £2k to £3 m in val ue . The team assists internal clients to review project requirements , develop programmes of work which achieve economies of scale from a cost, quality, and programme delivery perspective . In addition to offering a Fire Risk Assessment and Principal Designer service , i t also provides a range of specialists from building surveying, mechanical and electrical design services, structural design, cost & contract management , and Construction Design Management (CDM) compliance .

The candidate should have a BSc in Building Surveying or similarly related RICS-accredited Batchelor's degree . The successful candidate will be working towards achieving full RICS , or CIOB membership and will be competent in analysing building defects and specifying building works. A p roficiency at producing AutoCAD designs , a good working knowledge of building and planning legislation, CDM Regulations , and current Building Contracts (including JCT, PSPC and NEC3/4 TSC and ECC) are also required .

Professionally, you will be required to deliver , manage & administer construction contracts from commencement to completion, to quality, time and within budget.
