Job description
Bertha's Legacy is looking for a reliable volunteer to undertake funding research and writing grants on behalf of the charity. The ideal volunteer will be passionate about making a positive difference to marginalised victims of GBV.
What will you be doing?As a Funding Researcher & Grant Writer you will focus on researching and applying for (local and international) grants and funds that will enable our current and future projects to run by:
• Identifying the appropriate sources of funding where we fit the correct criteria.
• Creating and advising a strategy for prioritising bids to maximise our chances of securing funding.
• Researching national and regional funding sources to feed core business and project operational costs.
• Developing and submitting a full range of grant proposals based on these funding sources.
• Help develop Bertha's Legacy strategy to help create and maintain a strong and diverse income that meets our funding needs.
• Create a calendar of grant deadlines and track submitted funding proposals.
• Write tailored grant/funding bids that meet funders’ interests and requirements and identify any additional documentation needs in support of funding bids.
• Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing and potential funders.
• Report on grant usage and impact.
• Review all grant/bid feedback and ensure knowledge is shared so that learning informs us for future approaches to grants.

• Demonstrated experience in identifying major and minor grants, both locally and internationally.
• Familiarity with the typical funding agencies and acumen for sniffing out rarer or one-off.
• Existing contacts with funding agencies would be advantageous.
• An understanding of community engagement would be advantageous.
• Experience with writing Grants and proposals.
• Experience with fundraising.
Success in securing financing will allow us to continue to deliver life-changing programs and services to victims of gender-based violence. It will also help us raise awareness so that communities are also able to step in to join in the fight to end gender-based violence. Our particular focus is on hard to reach communities that are under-served.
