Role overview:
Manage the team and project delivery process, ensuring this is implemented in line with Group processes and project strategy contained within the submission document.
To ensure the execution of project deliverables are within agreed parameters of budget and programme.
Ensuring the production teams are delivering to the required quality and health and safety obligations in line with Group procedures.
Role Scope:
Managing a large project in excess of £400million. Overall responsibility of the regional teams and delivery of large scale project. Direct reports shall be all senior personnel on site, production, technical and commercial.
Key Internal/External Relationships:
- Internal: Directors, HR, Health & Safety, Departments Leads and Project teams.
- External: Housing Association, Local Authority, Employers Agents, Bank Monitoring Surveyors, Land Agents, Design Consultants, Supply Chain
Key Results Areas:
Delivery
- Make certain that the project is delivered in accordance with our contractual requirements and the production, technical & commercial teams are continually monitoring this and accurately reporting the position of the programme.
- Ensure that all programme is rigorously adhered to and that designers and sub-contractors take on the responsibility of achieving the programmed dates.
- Ensure short term programming and other controls are set in place for the project.
- Review the position of the project continually with the site teams.
- Support & guide all other departments in ensuring the project is delivered to programme.
- Assist with resolving buildability challenges and value engineering during both pre and post construction phases.
- Promote the business to external parties to raise and maintain the profile of Hill in the construction industry.
- Liaise with business development, meeting with potential land owners, employers agents etc. to explore any avenue to secure future work for the business.
- Assist the region in all pre contract activities including the participation of external tendered opportunities.
- Provide feedback and liaise with other regions on best practice.
People
- Control and manage the project teams which will include mentoring, performance management and discipline.
- Motivating the project teams to perform at the highest possible level.
- Work collaboratively with technical/sales/commercial and customer service managers to drive projects forward and proactivity deal with any regional issues to ensure a swift and satisfactory resolution.
- Recruiting and strengthening the project.
- Carry out staff appraisals in line with company procedures.
- Identify personal and team development needs.
- Communicate clearly, show leadership and take ownership of a problem to ensure it is managed in an effective fashion adhering to company HR policies.
Skills, Experience and Attributes:
- Previous experience managing a large project c£400million ideally a city regeneration project.
- Retail experience would be ideal.
- Ability to ensure that all programmes are rigorously adhered to and all Hill teams and sub-contractors achieve programme dates
- Proven experience of delivering end to end delivery process from design to finish beyond first handover
- Extensive site management experience with responsibility of large teams
- Proven success in leading and managing large teams is essential
- Experience in delivering schemes of minimum value £300 million in value.
- Experienced in concrete frame structures with brickwork and clad façades.
- Competent in groundworks and civil engineers
- Experienced in contracting and social housing developments working for Local Authority and Social Landlord clients.
- Familiar with contracts, cause and effect programming is preferable.
- Expert understanding of H&S law and regulations
- A proven track record of quality delivery on time is paramount.
- IT literate
- Experience in D&B projects with bespoke designs.
- Proficient in ASTA Power Projects
- SMSTS
- First Aid at Work
- CIOB qualification preferable but not mandatory.
- Confident to present to large crowds and audiences.
- Be familiar and competent dealing with high end technically complex designs.
