Head of Design
£50,000 + car allowance + great benefits
As Head of Design, you will be responsible for leading and inspiring our client's dedicated team to deliver truly
innovative product design & engineering solutions. You will define and embed standards which align
with the overarching business strategy and deliver against targets. You will thrive on motivating the
whole team in meeting challenging targets and ensuring innovation and design excellence has at its
heart the needs of the children our client works tirelessly to support. You will work collaboratively with other
departments and be pivotal in ensuring success by achievement of customer, financial and quality
objectives.

organisation, process improvement and customer focus.

Key responsibilities
• Management and leadership of a dedicated team of design / engineering professionals
• Lead on design and development strategy effectively combining this with hands-on support
for the team; adding value as a subject matter expert and promoting knowledge sharing
Summary
• Overall development and coaching of team members within your area of responsibility to achieve targets and objectives
• Embed customer centric, ethical and clinically excellent design standards across the company working closely with other departments to understand market needs, anticipate future needs and routes to market
• Engage the team in the goals, vision and work collaboratively with other departments working in line with Jenx Ltd values
• Champion culture development initiatives, innovation and continuous improvement
• Be accountable for departmental cost management such as material wastage etc. and manage the departmental budget
• Deliver against departmental KPIs, project milestones and objectives
• Challenge technical solutions to provide best value and support the drive for efficiency and carbon reduction through continuous improvement
• Ensuring suitable and flexible processes for internal and external communication are implemented and maintained with all staff within your area of responsibility
• Develop the use of systems and data to aid effective decision making
• Lead and drive improvement projects
Key Requirements
• Design & Engineering professional 10+ years experience; postural support product experience, particularly with paediatrics, would be highly advantageous
• Experience in a similar role; operating at both strategic management level and hands-on with project work
• Highly people orientated leadership & coaching skills
• Knowledge of our market, customers and products
• Excellent understanding and experience of the design process from concept to release; product development and engineering expertise
• Great communication skills and the ability to engage and empower a team
• The ability to quickly understand business challenges and engage the team in meeting challenging targets on time and on budget
• Knowledge of continuous improvement techniques
• Experience of change management processes
• An accomplished and experienced project manager
• Relevant and up to date clinical knowledge would be desirable
