SEN Class Teacher
Location: Hull
Start Date: Immediately
Salary: £28,000 to £43,685 per annum
GSL Education Hull are seeking to appoint a qualified SEN Class Teacher for their client SEN School in Hull. This is a unique teaching opportunity, where you will be joining a forward thinking and thriving alternative provision in Hull.
About the role as an SEN Class Teacher:
- To plan and deliver educational activities in-line with the national curriculum, with an underlying focus on English and Maths.
- Promote social skills and the use of coping mechanisms when appropriate.
- You will need to take a creative approach to teaching pupils according to their educational needs, ensuring delivery of the school curriculum in a way that maximises pupils’ achievement and ability to develop.
- Work alongside the support staff within the classroom to ensure that each pupil is getting the support they require, but also to ensure the smooth running of sessions and allow each pupil to have a positive learning environment.
As the ideal SEN Class Teacher, you should meet the following requirements:
- Have UK Qualified Teacher Status or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills status.
- Have previous experience teaching in an SEN school or extensive experience working with pupils with complex additional needs.
- Have experience planning and teaching fun and engaging sessions.
- Have a clear understanding of autism and the behaviours associated with autism. De-escalation or safehold training is beneficial, but not essential to this role; training can be provided.
- Have a proven track record of providing students with a teaching and learning experience.
- Have up to date safeguarding and child protection qualifications/knowledge and experience.
- Have an updated CV with an Enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one.
