Investment Asset Manager
Grade SM2 £59,453 - £63,372 per annum (from 1st April 2024)
This role is within the Council’s Assets Service area and is part of our Asset Management team. Within Assets we manage the Council’s investment, residential, municipal and regeneration land and property, this role will be predominantly focused on our commercial property holdings.
The Council’s land and property is a key part of ensuring the Council’s operational functions and front-line services are delivered efficiently, effectively and are value for money for Spelthorne’s residents, businesses, and wider community. Our work also has a large contribution in supporting the Council deliver its Corporate Priorities.
This role is fundamental in managing our commercial portfolio that contributes a net £10m+ each year to fund our front-line services. The post holder will be part of a team of surveyors and support staff involved in key workstreams as well as dealing with all aspects of the asset management of our best-in-class investment portfolio.
This is a varied role with a breath of exciting work to get stuck into which includes input into our development schemes, specifically Staines Town centre, where we have a number of land holdings that can contribute to building on the current strength of the town as a retail and commercial centre, via the provision of enhanced mixed-use facilities, that we want to deliver via partnership arrangements.
What we’re looking for from you:
A proven track record dealing with the proactive asset management of a high value investment portfolio including building strong landlord and tenant relationships, income generation and lease event management.
You should take pride in your work and strive to deliver an excellent service to all stakeholders across the business. You must have excellent interpersonal skills, be comfortable presenting reports and updating our management team and Councillors on all relevant areas of your part of the portfolio.
You will need to be a team player and take pride in what you do and be able to prioritise and manage your workload utilising external expertise when necessary to ensure we deliver a first class service to our tenants and communities in/around the Borough.

At times you will need to focus on specific bespoke workstreams, so must be flexible to manage workloads and meet deadlines. Hence you must therefore be comfortable working alone to get the job done as much working as part of a team on larger initiatives.

Excellent communication skills are a must for this role as part of our successes are building strong relationships at every level.
The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for customer facing posts. These posts fall within the scope of the Code of Practice on English language requirement for public sector workers. The Council, therefore, has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
